Full-Time, Corporate Rotation Trainee
Description: The California ISO is seeking recent grads with a technical degree looking for a career in the energy industry with a focus on leadership. both technical and management. The Corporate Rotation program is a full time, paid training program designed to give you a broad exposure to what we do at the California ISO. The focus is on developing you to be a future leader. Along the way, you will rotate through several different departments where you will get hands-on training over a period of approximately eighteen (18) months. When finished, you have a choice of being placed in one of your rotation assignments permanently or another area that meets your interests and qualifications. What’s In it For You? You will participate in a structured training program to develop a cross-functional understanding of what the California ISO Is all about. You will be assigned projects and received training under the guidance of mentors in the following business areas: Interconnection Resources, Operations Readiness, Market Services, Market Quality and Renewable Integration, Project Management, Customer Service and Finance. Actively participate in a fast-paced learning program, hands-on instruction, on-the-job training and self-study in a variety of subject areas within the organization. Under the direction of a mentor or program manager, assist with multiple challenging, complex and time sensitive projects. Complete additional required reading including books, business documents and other training materials. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in each area of study by the end of the rotational periods. Learn fundamentals and strategies to best support business objectives. Demonstrates knowledge of organizational goals, objectives, tools, applications, processes, and services. You will attend lectures and workshops by Industry Subject Matter Experts from inside and outside of the ISO, leadership training and related programs.
Qualifications: B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or related technical field. Graduation between May 2014 and December 2015. You must a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Academic excellence with critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving and quantitative competence. Demonstrated leadership ability and success managing projects to completion. Versatility in professional, academic and/or extracurricular experiences. Work effectively in a team environment. Ability to provide practical and feasible solutions to problems, keeping multiple conflicting considerations into account. Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills required. Ability to effectively communicate complex technical materials and concepts in a non-technical manner.
